CommentCourtship displays by male Musk Ducks can be spectacular but are usually performed out of reach. This image shows the final part of the display with the intensity at its peak. The bill-lobe has become turgid, cheeks inflated, the tail fully cocked forward over the back and the splash is accompanied by a loud descending whistle.
EquipmentCanon 5Ds + 600 mm f/4 III, hand-held from car window. Manual, spot metering, AI Servo spot AF, f/5.6, 1/2000 sec, ISO 800. Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
