Comment‘Landed’: This photo is the first in a series of three depicting the posture adopted by male rainbow bee-eaters when excavating their nesting burrows. I have waited just over two decades to observe this behaviour a second time and capture these images, which I now share with you. This adult male bird landed close to my sand dune hide along with other males spread along a remote track flanking a billabong. There were no active burrows and the males were commencing their digging behaviours.
EquipmentNikon D850; Nikkor 600 FL; tripod; transportable hide. Processed using the latest versions of neat Image, LR CC and PS CC.
