CommentThese ducks always fascinate me with their usual bills. They are best suited to feeding on stagnant, shallow freshwater ponds, floodplains etc. The flaps of skin along their bill form a broad scoop, they use this to scoop up the food. They immerse their bill, sometimes up to their eyes then draw water through a small gap in the tip of their bill and push it out the sides through lamellae, leaving behind food particles.
