Wingspan = 2.5 - 3.5m

Conservation Status = Critically Endangered

The Wandering Albatross is an amazing bird! It has the largest wingspan of any bird. They can live for 50+ years and they mate for life. They breed every two (2) years on subantarctic islands, laying one (1) egg. Some identifying features are:

- ‘Humped’ back in flight
- Females always have brown flakes on crown
- Chequered black upperwing, whitens with maturity
- Vermiculation on breast and mantle
- Pink bill, tipped yellow
- Juveniles have black terminal band on tail, fades with maturity
- White underwing, first few primaries are black, thin black margins on secondaries
