CommentA resident, small and very common, widespread and versatile species of plover. When it comes to choice of habitat it is not fussy and can be found along most of the Australian coastline, but it occurs also inland at saltlakes and can be seen at freshwater wetlands, too, even in wet, pastoral lands. It forages in leaps and bounds on mudflats and sandflats, seeking out moist, drained areas and often avoiding puddles. A gregarious bird, it forms big flocks, mixes and flies with other species of shorebirds. Nairns, Coodanup Foreshore Reserve; GPS. Status: Least Concern
