CommentAdult, subspecies longirostris (large bill) from WA. The image was captured on an outing associated with the BLP national bird photography conference. It was a windy, overcast morning with a few drops of rain. I noticed this bird posing nicely as we arrived at the car park. It was in soft light against a distant forest edge making an attractive composition.
EquipmentCanon 1Dx II + 600 mm f/4 III + 1.4x III extender, hand-held.
Manual, spot metering, AI Servo spot AF, f/5.6, 1/800 sec, ISO 800.
Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
