CommentOn pelagic seabird trips these birds are usually called as 'Fluttering Type' shearwaters because of the difficulty distinguishing between Fluttering and Hutton's. Photographs like this one of the under side enable a positive ID. The key ID point for Hutton's is the dark triangular 'wing-pit'. This is not a great picture on account of the large crop and harsh light but I have submitted it as we have only one image of this species in the BLP image library.
EquipmentCanon 5Ds + 400 mm f/4 DO II, hand-held.
Manual, spot metering, AI Servo spot AF, f/5, 1/3200 sec, ISO 250.
Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
