CommentMore commonly known as Grey Ternlet, this species breeds on Lord Howe Island and Phillip Island off Norfolk Island. It was one of the special birds we were pleased to see around the north end of LHI from BLP member Jack Shick's charter boat. The breeding season runs from April to December. The birds lay one egg in a nest comprising a few scraps of seaweed on a rock ledge.
EquipmentCanon 1DxII + 400 mm f/4 DO II + 1.4x III extender, hand-held.
Manual, spot metering, AI Servo AF with 4-pt expansion, f/5.6, 1/3200 sec, ISO 500.
Processed using DPP4 and PSE14 with Neat Image plug-in.
