CommentThis bird was a long, long way away but I was set up for flight shots in that general direction so I took a couple of images.
Upon review, this image appealed to me immediately. The overall impact is fresh. There are around a thousand flight images in the BLP galleries but almost none of these are of birds with closed wings. Why do I (we) prefer to put up flight shots of birds with open wings?
I routinely delete closed wing images.
Perhaps they deserve a second look.
In this case enjoy the sense of the bird hanging suspended without visible means of support in an infinite space. To achieve this sense, I cropped out a hill that spanned the lower 20% of the image.
