CommentThis rare vagrant to Australia was first identified at the Whyalla Wetlands on the 26 December. Several birders saw it over the following days in the same pond. A very active bird and often at the far side of the pond. My patience over the afternoon of the 1st and the early morning of 2nd paid off when the bird flew from the far side and landed in front of where I had set up and commenced feeding along the edge of the pond.
