This species was misidentified as Pectoral Sandpiper x2

The Sharp-tailed Sandpiper is distinguishable from the Pectoral Sandpiper by the streaking on the breast. The Pectoral Sandpiper’s heavily-streaked breast is abruptly cut-off before the ‘official’ belly region whereas the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper has streaking until the tail. The streaking gets fainter as they progress.

Some other identifying features for the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper are:

- Rufous crown

- White supercilium and eye-ring

- Bill down-curved at tip

- Underwing mostly white

- Light wing-bar
