Comment | Indian Yellow-nosed Albatross Scientific Name = Thalassarche carteri Wingspan = 1.8 - 2m Conservation Status = Endangered This species was misidentified as Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross x1 The Indian Yellow-nosed Albatross (IYN) is the smallest albatross of the mollymawks. Atlantic Yellow-nosed (AYN) is distinguishable from the IYN by a grey smudge on the ‘cheeks’ of the head and a dark area under the eye. AYN also has grey on the back of the neck, whereas IYN does not. Some other identifying features are: - Yellow stripe on upper mandible, narrowing before meeting forehead as a sharp point - Pink-orange bill tip - Grey mantle - White rump - Black undertail | ||||||||||||||||||
