CommentNominate race cyanoleuca. This individual is undergoing post-juvenile moult, the earliest stage at which birds of this species can be sexed. The appearance of white feathers on an otherwise black forehead indicates this is a female. The black plumage is dull and yet to acquire its glossy appearance and there are patches of brown juvenile plumage still remaining. Birds start post-juvenile moult before leaving parental territory and in a study in sw WA were on average 77 days old at the start of the moult.
