Noisy Pitta

Noisy Pitta (Image ID 47105)
CommentIts amazing how this brightly coloured bird can disappear in plain sight by just standing still among the leaf litter on the rainforest floor. However, once it has revealed its position by hopping a few steps its just a matter of finding a clear shot through the foliage and the bird generally obliges by freezing for about ten seconds once it has moved. The orange gape indicates it is immature. It is also an altitude migrant coming down out of the mountains to this area near coast for winter.
