CommentThe Little Egret is widespread in Australia, avoiding only the driest interior. It might hunt hectically and at length in shallow water, chasing invertebrates, small fish, tadpoles and frogs. It can sometimes perform quite a dance in pursuit of prey, but in this instance the egret went after a morsel at a gallop after having missed it when stabbing at it. It did catch it a moment later! The day of capture was overcast and grey with the occasional shower. Time of capture 09:16.
