Buff-banded Rail

Buff-banded Rail (Image ID 46386)
CommentI have chosen this shot for the competition as I believe I have achieved a beautiful piece of art here. Overall its about the light which was late afternoon and the golden hour sunshine beautifully complements the buff on the bird and the golden reeds around it. I like the eye and head position to the camera and the red eye is sharp and it pops. Overall the colour matching is what makes it a very painterly image. You can see a lot of the features of this bird from head to toe so it's also a great ID image for those seeing it for the first time.
