CommentHere is a Buff-rumped Thornbill, noticed skittering around in leaf litter on Mount Alexander at the Leanganook Campground. This portrait, as one can imagine, involved getting down to Thornbill level, more of a challenge than it used to be in my younger days. In non-breeding season, Buff-rumps are often found foraging around in leaf litter and fallen bark, searching for insects and small invertebrates. Its buff rump can just be seen, distinguishing it from other similar Thornbills.
