Purple Swamphen

Purple Swamphen (Image ID 45900)
CommentI like this photo as I had watched the adult showing the new chick bits of grass and other foods as they wondered at the edge of the lake oblivious to my presence. As they were constantly moving I upped the ISO and used a fast shutter speed to obtain a sharp image. I thought it might be a bit grainy but was very pleased with the outcome. It shows the differences in head structure of the chick yet to develop the red crown as well as the rich colours of the adult.
