Purple Swamphen

Purple Swamphen (Image ID 45887)
CommentBibra Lake is a favourite location particularly at this stage when I started an addiction to bird photography, apologies I had to get to the archive for this as I am recovering from a broken foot, slowing getting back to the birds.
I recall being cautious as I approached this group of hens, noting they tend to run away quite quickly. I waited quietly near the reeds for a perfect shot. This image shows the feet which appear quite large for such a strange but colourful bird. These appear in abundance where I am but I had never noticed the beautiful colour in the feathers until I had camera in hand and started to take notice.
