Buff-banded Rail

Buff-banded Rail (Image ID 45817)
CommentI chose this photo because it needed very little editing, and shows the bird a natural behaviour as the it fprages in the late afternoon. There are grains of sand on the beak where the bird has been probing the ground. I like the pose with the long toes visible, and the gleam of the catch light in the eye. Rails are handsome birds with distinctive feather pattens, which the afternoon light shows to advantage.
