Purple Swamphen

Purple Swamphen (Image ID 45671)
CommentI have chosen this for the natural interaction between the adult and juvenile Swamp Hens. The detail is such that we see the saliva connecting the birds as they exchange a tasty morsel. I enjoyed the eye contact with the camera, catch lights and focus on the juvenile's eye to draw us in to that point. The shot also demonstrates the unusually big feet of the juvenile bird in comparison to its size and acts as a natural leading line to the point of focus.
