CommentI post this image in order to show the Black-faced Woodswallow in one of its typical habitats of Western Australia. It is a very widespread species of woodswallow, but not many captures from more remote areas of WA is presently on file, probably because only few folks travel here. Hence images from such areas seem in short supply, though the species is rather common ‘out there’ in the arid regions of that state. This particular bird was photographed roughly mid-way to Paynes Find out of Yalgoo, where the vegetation changes between low shrublands with scattered small trees and saltbush. I feel myself that this capture is best presented in the ‘portrait’ version, but this may come down to taste. The species is listed as ‘Least Concern’ (2016) by IUCN’s Red List. Time of capture 15:30.
