CommentI have spotted and observed both sexes of this species of bird many, many times over the years and heard it more often yet. But rarely has this whistler ventured down to head height so that I had a chance of a decent photo. Once or twice, when one did do so in order to check me out, it landed so close that I could not focus with the 500mm lens. Finally, on this occasion I spotted a pair of these small and busy whistlers in low and open Banksia Woodlands. The rest was a waiting game, and in the end I managed this capture of a male at near head hight. Sit still, he would not, and It was difficult to get him separated from the always crowded backgrounds. As there are not many Images of this species from WA here, I find it has enough merit to submit it in spite of its shortfalls and the rather large crop. Time of capture 09:35.
