CommentThis Eastern Rosella was sighted in our local park feasting on the fluffy white seeds of Milk Thistle (Sonchus Oleraceus), a very common weed but obviously one that has a food role for Easterns. Hopefully, Council weed controllers are aware of this before they spray chemicals on such weeds. The intense deep colours of the Rosella are suggestive of a male. As I watched, he made very dexterous use of his right claw to hold the thistle stem steady as he devoured the seeds, getting fluff all over his beak.
