CommentThe sudden emergence of a New Holland Honeyeater in a flowering Grevillea is no surprise, any more than its equally sudden disappearance and reappearance in some other part of the bush, clinging on to slim branches with its very efficient claws, possibly upside down or at some other awkward angle. No surprise, either, that to photograph such antics takes a bit of patience, a bit of luck and quick reflexes. I have submitted this image as I am pleased that I captured some of the feeling of the experience. The spiky Grevillea leaves add a bit of drama and emphasize the erratic movement of the bird; they also seem to echo the pattern of feathers on the bird’s chest. This image has been cropped for maximum effect.
