CommentBush birds are the hardest to photograph in beautiful light, mainly due to the very nature of the complex habitats in which we find them. I have chosen this image on the basis of behaviour. This adult tawny grassbird flew across a wide walkway in a nature reserve and stopped to display his captured prey. The filtered sunlight entering the scrub is reflected from a leaf in the background, creating a natural halo around the bill and throat of the grassbird – highlighting the captive snail.
