CommentThis Pacifici Black Duck is not on the way up to a nest; it is just stumbling up for a dry spot to sit and rest after feeding in the morning. Over the years I have seen and observed many Pacific Black Ducks, as the species is so common in Perth Metro Lakes and ponds, and I have photographed many. So much to my surprise, going all the way back to my first serious digital SLR, I found that I had very few even half decent images on file of the species. One can’t see the forest for the trees! In the end I settled for this 2008 capture from Herdsman Lake. I am uncertain about the sex of the bird; time of capture: 07:41.
