Comment | This shot was taken on an overcast, rainy day in Perth. As such, I was attempting to keep my ISO low by also using a slower shutter speed. This slower shutter speed allowed me to capture the moment when this rainbow bee-eater decided to shake the water off its feathers. I like the blurred motion of the shake, combined with the relatively sharp, motionless feet. I feel that thus blurred effect, along with the visible water drops being shaken off, give this image more interest than a standard "bird on a branch" portrait. I also like the variety of green tones in the image and overall dark feel, indicative of the gloomy day during which the image was taken. The second bee eater in the background also lends this image some additional interest. hence why I chose to leave it in there rather than crop it out. | |||||||||||||||
