Turquoise Parrot

Turquoise Parrot (Image ID 44747)
CommentOn a day well remembered for bushfires and draught I was on the tail end of a bird trip down through southern NSW and northern Victoria when I bumped into a fellow birder unknown to me at Chiltern. He mentioned the sightings of some Turquoise parrots coming into a nearly dry dam not far from there. I had never photographed this species before let alone seen them so I was more than excited when I came across these stunning birds. By late that afternoon I had taken numerous images of this beautiful parrot . It was New Years day and I was now optimistic about the year that lay ahead. This photo of a mature female was taken just before sunset on a 42 deg day. A special moment for sure
