White-winged Chough

White-winged Chough (Image ID 44722)
CommentA white-winged chough preening during light rain, its distinctive red iris well matched to the stems of new leaves on its red box perch (Eucalyptus polyanthemos). I like the detail in the background even though I suppose it's generally considered too busy for bird photography, but here the strength of the bird's features aren't overwhelmed. The clarity and soft light also put this among my favourites for 2020.
