Royal Spoonbill

Royal Spoonbill (Image ID 44609)
CommentI picked this image as it captured a number of attributes I like in the image. Firstly, the image shows the breading plumage as well as the red mark above the bill which I believe is also associated with breading. Secondly the feed habit of swinging the bill back and forward in the water, not easy to capture in a still image, is demonstrated. Finally, the bill itself with the distinctive ridged patterning the top can be clearly seen.
