CommentThis close-up of an Eastern Spinebill shows it almost fully implanting its long slender 20-31mm bill into a Kangaroo Paw flower to reach the pollen. No doubt Kangaroo Paws have evolved their long tubular flowers with Spinebills very much in mind when it comes to pollination. Nature often seems to develop mutually beneficial niches. The greyish olive-tinged head is suggestive of a female.
