CommentThis tiny Brown Thornbill, with its characteristic streaked front and deep red eyes, peeped out of us from some foliage in the Coolart Wetlands, Mornington. It was one of a group that was foraging in some undergrowth, moving around so rapidly that a clear view was almost impossible. However, this one, peeping out at us amongst the foliage, stayed just long enough to take a photo, and was no doubt reassured to see us move on. Taking care must be something that most small birds have to worry about, and why they try to make themselves as inconspicuous as possible, although Blue Wrens and Willie Wagtails would seem to be the exception, far more prepared to come out into the open and pose for a perfect portrait on a suitable branch or stump.
