Rainbow Bee-eater

Rainbow Bee-eater (Image ID 44435)
CommentI was pleased to capture some flight shots of these speedy birds against a background other than the sky. Finding birds that were excavating their nest tunnels provided such opportunity. Many attempts were made over a number of days with few shots worth keeping. I liked this one with out swept wings and upward tilt of the head. The light was key to getting shutter speeds sufficient to get a semblance of sharpness in flight feathers but retaining the sense of movement. Though the bird is marred slightly by the grass stem across the tail I left it as is. Another of my favored shots for 2020.
