Hooded Plover

Hooded Plover (Image ID 44423)
CommentNationally Vulnerable Hooded Plovers are often photographed together, but this photo emphasizes the subjects as a true companion pair. The soft hues of the rocks in the late afternoon sun work well to show the birds in their environment and at the same time contrast nicely with their sharply defined colours.
Because the birds were close to me though not equidistant, I had to narrow the aperture considerably to retain depth of field.
