CommentThis image was captured unexpectedly. Whilst positioned and focussed on Red-necked Stint my attention was drawn to the egrets over my shoulder by their calls and erratic movement. It was not until later I realised from the purple flushed facial skin and puffed necks that this was a courtship dispute. I have selected the image as I like the interaction between the three birds and the side light has given some depth, with no distractions in the background or foreground.
