Purple Swamphen

Purple Swamphen (Image ID 43180)
CommentIt was cold as I sat beside a small, high country lake waiting for the sun to rise; the play of colours across the water was mesmerising. I rarely see swamphens swimming so to see this one perfectly reflected at first light, with its wings and tail lifted beautifully and showing its white undertail, was pure magic.
