Sharp-tailed Sandpiper

Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Image ID 42935)
CommentThis image happens to my favourite from well over 100 frames that I managed to capture on a memorable morning last summer. A combination of the colour of the light, the beautifully patterned wing coverts, the position of the birds, and their reflections off the still water surface made this an easy choice for me. Readers will realise that when photographing mutliple subjects, depth of field is a factor that needs be considered when composing the shot. I moved my aperture to f8 for this shot in an attempt to capture as much detail as I could.
