CommentCalm conditions on an incoming tide on the edge of the River Derwent near Goulds Lagoon made for opportunities to capture reflections of the wading birds. This elegant bird had well developed breeding plumes, and a green courtship flush discernible on the lores. I was taken with the design element of this image, whereby the combined shape of the bird and its reflection reminded me of one of a pair of curly brackets. I also thought the subtle reflection of sky colour helped the background and made the bird and its reflection stand out.
