Fairy Tern

Fairy Tern (Image ID 42636)
CommentI have chosen this image because I like the way it shows the behaviour of the fairy terns during the breeding season. Males typically bring fish offerings in the hope of finding a partner. The females at times can be choosy. This pair may have mated already, because the female accepted the fish and the male flew off straight away to get another, which helps the female to produce their eggs. I like the way the birds and the fish are arranged int the picture, and the reflection clearly shows the heads and bills.
