Brown Quail

Brown Quail (Image ID 42564)
CommentLate afternoon, down low with a myriad quails coming in for a drink at a small puddle on a seldom used gravel track bisecting local farms and council owned swampland. I had been trying over several days to isolate some birds at this exact spot and I even topped up the puddle on a couple of occasions. There are so many quails at this location that my biggest challenge was capturing an isolated bird and its reflection without having brown blobs photo-bombing in the background, or running into the shot at great velocity from either side. It's amazing what can happen between focusing and pressing the shutter down! In any event I was able to manage a handful of tolerable images, this being my favourite.
