Mulga Parrot

Mulga Parrot (Image ID 42510)
CommentWhile this image is a study of the less flambouyant female bird, it also conveys to the viewer that mulga parrots usually come to water in pairs or small flocks to drink. The light in this arid landscape can be harsh, but in the early morning is softer giving a more pleasing portrait. The aperture was closed down (f10) giving enough depth of field to get both birds in focus. Both birds are looking at the camera, so the viewer feels part of the scene.
