CommentEndemic to Tasmania. A delight to find one in an open well-lit & uncluttered environment.
A black chin is very evident here in this bird, but it is a larger species than the mainland Black-chinned. The Strong-bill is the largest Melithreptus honeyeater.
(Tas has no treecreepers or sittellas & this bird & a couple of others (such as the Grey Shrike-thrush & Yellow-throated HE) fill the niche & spend much time probing bark.
