CommentPardalote was collecting nesting material (short pieces of bark) from roots on the ground, and was regularly flying back to a nest in a tree hollow. I prefocussed and waited and when it looked like the bird was about to take off I pressed the shutter and hoped! The image has been cropped more than I would like but its still interesting.
EquipmentNikon D810, Nikon 200-500 f/5.6, at 500mm. f/5.6, 1/5000 sec, ISO 800, +0.3 step. Handheld but balanced on car windowsill.
