CommentShowing a bird displaying a 'habit' is something I like to do .. but this is all this Crested Tern was doing, for 45 minutes! He stood face into the wind staring longingly at who-knows-what. I chose this photo as it displays his non-breeding spotty face nicely and I was so surprised to see right through the opening in his bill. Trying to get nice and close for a competition such as this has shown me more about this bird. His spikey head feathers are nicely detailed and I believe my photo displays this bird well.
