Bassian Thrush

Bassian Thrush (Image ID 41019)
CommentI really find delightful the delicate patterning of the feathers in this species so feel it makes for a nice head portrait. Also being a relatively small bird, the experience of seeing it so big and at this level of detail hopefully provides an opportunity for study and contemplation not normally possible. I was lucky to have a very close encounter to get this shot. The flecks of dirt on its bill are evidence that it was actively foraging in the leaf litter at the time. I have added some blur to the lower left of the frame to soften a twig in the background.
