CommentOne of the challenges for me in getting images that comply with the rules of this competition, is that I have a camera with a relatively small sensor. With that limitation, you can’t rely on a large crop to get you in close to the subject. This means that in order to get good details, I have to be close to all the subjects, even with an equivalent of a 600mm zoom lens. As this is a constant challenge in all my images, I’m prefacing any other aspects of my comments with this statement.

This is a wild bird living in Melbourne Zoo and as such, you are able to get reasonably close to photograph it. I was pleased to get a good showing of the red/orange area behind the eye and how well it is complimented by the greens in its plumage.
