Pacific Black Duck

Pacific Black Duck (Image ID 40942)
CommentOne of the challenges for me in getting images that comply with the rules of this competition, is that I have a camera with a relatively small sensor. With that limitation, you can’t rely on a large crop to get you in close to the subject. This means that in order to get good details, I have to be close to all the subjects, even with an equivalent of a 600mm zoom lens. As this is a constant challenge in all my images, I’m prefacing any other aspects of my comments with this statement.

I was standing on a low bridge across one of the ponds in the Royal Park wetlands, when this duck surfaced fairly close me. I managed to get off a couple of images before it dived again. I quite like the light and I think the addition of water drops on the plumage add additional interest.
