CommentIn winter and spring when low grasses are seeding, the WA endemic Red-tailed Firetails come out in the open to forage on the ground, but at other times they are more difficult to get to see. I captured this one from under camouflage netting, as it flew up from the ground to investigate the source of the noise from my shutter rattling. It was a brief encounter, lasting only a few seconds. The image was taken at 09:28 on an overcast day.
