CommentIt was quietly sitting there, just asking me to ‘take the shot, take the shot’! I liked the subtle tones of its plumage separated and defined by distinctive black bands, and a cheeky smile thrown in for good measure. Positioning the bird within the frame was crucial for presentation. An uncluttered background was easy enough with depth of field control but that single engaging eye has to be in the right place within the frame to achieve a balance that ‘feels right’
